The What Matters Research Program focuses on improving the understanding, measurement and evaluation of wellbeing for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Our multi-disciplinary research team includes Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and non-Indigenous researchers from across Australia. This program of research is led by researchers from The University of Queensland and The University of Sydney.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people’s preferences, experiences and perspectives are important to include in wellbeing measures. This allows the accurate and effective measurement of wellbeing to guide and inform evaluation and decision making to improve the lives of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
